Sarah Wright, 60, Social Worker, Rochester

When did you start at CrossFit Reviver?: Feb 2016

What is your athletic background?: My athletic background? Well that depends on your definition. Never played sports myself but did cheer on my brother who player in high school and my sister who was a cheer leader. When my husband was at Florida State we did pick up running and I was running 20 miles a week. But that is the extent of it.

What is your favorite and least favorite WOD/movement?: My favorite is anything wall ball. My least s tied: the inch worm and the spider man stretch if that is even the name of it. Not a fan.

What is your great accomplishment? Personal, Professional, and Fitness related:: My great accomplishment was meeting and marrying the love of my life for 24 years until he became ill and is now in Heaven with Jesus. Along with that is our children, Am y and Ben and it now includes Jessica, Landon and Sadie. Professional: Studying and retesting to get my social work license after Luther died. I passed the first time. Fitness: I did Murph this past June. That was the best.

Has CFR made you better? If yes, how so?: Yes. This summer has been tough to stay on track but now we are into fall and it feels good to return to being focused. My biggest fear with joining was that I wouldn't be able to do the movements. That was before I learned about modifications. I feel like I still learn more each time I am there, including today.

What are your hobbies?: I love to sit out on my swing with my Jesus music blaring. I have a very peaceful patio. But my biggest joy is Landon and Sadie, well and Amy, Ben and Jessica too.

What are your Top 5 favorite movies?: Hope Floats-my kids are rolling their eyes right now----It's Complicated and any Hallmark movie

What is one thing we don’t know about you?: I wrote a book.  'No Liver No shoes'   Its the story of our family's journey when my husband was diagnosed with cancer to the end...which was just a beginning, really.

What are your goals in life? Personal, Professional, and Fitness related:: Personal: To watch my grand kids grow up and to be there for my family. I need to be healthy to have that be a very long term goal. I am pursing that. Professorial: 8 months ago I took a GIANT leap of faith to leave a very toxic and stressful job and now work part time with people who work as a team and care about each other. I want to help continue that course. Fitness: My mind knows what I need to do to become stronger, healthier, lose weight but my body seems to be fighting it. So I have taken steps to help myself head in the right direction. Fear stands in my way some days: Look what I will be giving up...Look what I will miss ...I'm not strong enough...There is a song called 'Fear...It is a liar'' So my goal is to recognize the lies I tell myself and focus on the joy that will come with what is gained in this process. One day at a time. One minute at a time.
