Athlete of the Month, March 2014

Name, age, occupation, city? Kelly Ferrari, 26, Crime Fighter, Royal Oak

Start date at CrossFit Reviver? June 2012.

Athletic background? I played just about everything in high school but I stopped being active in college.

Favorite and least favorite WOD / movement? Favorite workout: “Murph” (even though I went the wrong way on the run and ran longer…in true Ferrari fashion). Least favorite movement: Inch Worms, even the name is dumb.

Greatest accomplishment? Personal, professional and fitness related? I think my greatest personal achievement was training for the Detroit Marathon, running and finishing was easy in comparison to giving my life to training for 7 months. I went from never running more than 4 miles to running 26.2 (I’m nuts). Professionally, the day I graduated with my Master’s Degree. My greatest fitness related achievement would have to be the day I started CrossFit. It was waaayy out of character for me.

Has CFR made you better? If so, how? No, CrossFit has made me a terrible person. All I talk about is CrossFit, people hate me. My hands are nasty. I have funny bruises sometimes. I walk like a moron after heavy squat days and The Open has given me clinical anxiety. DUHHH it’s made me a bad ass b*tch and I love it.

What are your hobbies? I feel like my whole life is about fitness and health. But I’m pretty girly, I like shopping, makeup, getting my nails done. Getting’ right keeping’ it tight. My cats!

Top 5 favorite TV movies? Put a gun to my head and I still wouldn’t be able to answer this question. Mean Girls.

What is one thing we don’t know about you? I think I’m kind of an open book…I speak Japanese and I lived in Japan for a year and some change.

What are your goals in life? Personal, professional and fitness related? Kick ass everyday. Give life, and every aspect of it, everything I got. Continue to be slightly ridiculous. And get through one WOD without Jeremy telling me to bring my feet in 🙂
