Athlete of the Month, November 2017
Bill Fox, 44, Firefighter/Paramedic, Shelby Township
When did you start at Crossfit Reviver: 11/20/2013
What is your athletic background: Like most people, sports in school. Football, basketball, and baseball. Ive stayed pretty active through my army, and fire service.
What is your favorite and least favorite WOD / movement: I love deadlifting. My least favorite is running. I hate running. Like with a passion. I would rather be on the bike than run. I only run because it’s programmed. Did I mention that I hate running?
What is your greatest accomplishment? Personal, professional and fitness related: Personally, I would say raising my son and daughter. They are only 4 and 7 so far, but I think they are awesome kids. Professionally goes back to my army service, and that is as a recon team leader, bringing all of my guys back to their families. We had some Purple Hearts on our team, including myself, but we all came home. To me, that is my greatest accomplishment. Fitness related is nothing specific. Just that I am impressed that I am as fit as I am at my age. I think I could still hang with the young, military version of myself, and that makes me happy.
Has CFR made you better? If yes, how so: Most definitely. I eat better, I move better, I feel good.
What are your hobbies: I am big into the outdoors. My passion is bowhunting whitetail deer. I also enjoy SCUBA diving, fishing, and just being outdoors.
What are your Top 5 favorite movies: The Band of Brothers series, and anything Star Wars.
What is one thing we don’t know about you: I don’t think most people know that I have Multiple Sclerosis. Aside from my treatments, I try to fight it with fitness and nutrition. I believe those are just as important as the medications. I don’t plan on giving into it.
What are your goals in life? Personal, professional and fitness related: Personal goals are to continue to raise my kids into good, functioning adults. Professionally is to make it to retirement in 9 years. LOL!! Fitness related is continue on the path that I’m on. To continue fighting my MS with fitness and nutrition, and stay in as great shape as I am as I get older.
