Athlete of the Month, September 2014
Name, age, occupation, city? Becca / Burpee-Becca / BB’s, 25, Home Medical Equipment Coordinator, Troy
Start date at CrossFit Reviver? March 2013.
Athletic background? Pretty much non-existent.
Favorite and least favorite WOD / movement? Favorite WOD: “DT”, Movement: Split Jerk and Squats. Least Favorite WOD: “Fran”, Movement: Burpees.
Greatest accomplishment? Personal, professional and fitness related? My greatest accomplishment so far has been to put myself through college and graduate with me Bachelor’s in Health Administration. Finally signing up for the On-Ramp at CFR after a year of harassment from Mike and Steph is my biggest fitness accomplishment. I never thought I would last a day but I’m glad I drank the CrossFit Kool-Aid and never looked back!
Has CFR made you better? If so, how? Yes, I’m now able to carry all the groceries in one trip and open pickle jars on my own. I’m the strongest and healthiest I’ve ever been both physically and mentally since joining CFR, which wouldn’t have been possible at this level without the motivation from my coaches and the community.
What are your hobbies? FOOD, I love trying new recipes and restaurants, my dog Frank, fitness, shopping, Netflix and really anything active outdoors.
Top 5 favorite TV movies? I’m a TV/movie junkie, I have way too many favorites. If I had to name a few; The Departed, The Dark Knight Trilogy, 500 Days of Summer, Man on Fire, Gladiator and pretty much any movie with Will Ferrell.
What is one thing we don’t know about you? Growing up, I was very involved in dirt bike riding and thought I would become a professional Freestyle Motocross Rider.
What are your goals in life? Personal, professional and fitness related? I would like to take time to travel and learn more about different cultures, earn my Master’s in Public Health, establish myself in a career position as a Health Administrator and possibly develop my own business/organization in the health field, start a family, become best friends with Beyonce, call myself an “athlete” with a straight face and just continue kicking ass and improving my fitness overall.
