What does Metabolic Testing tell me?
With this test, you will learn three important pieces of information regarding your metabolic requirements:
1) Resting Metabolic Rate: The number of calories your body would burn if you did nothing but sit in a chair all day.
2) NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis): when you move, your body burns energy > this represents the caloric energy your body burns during your day-to-day activities; household chores, walking the grocery store, fidgeting, etc.
3) Exercise Expenditure: the number of calories you burn during exercise.
Who is this for?
Struggling to lose weight? By learning your metabolic rate you can better plan your caloric needs to guarantee weight loss over time. You see, in order to lose weight, you MUST be in a calorie deficit (consume less calories than you burn). But very few of us actually know how many calories we burn throughout the day, so we end up guessing. By going through this testing you can stop guessing.
Looking to improve recovery from your training? If you’re training hard and feeling burned out, it could be that you're not re-fueling properly. By learning exactly how many calories you’re burning daily and during exercise, you can better plan out your food requirements to improve your ability to recover.
Losing weight but not getting leaner? The #1 key to losing weight is to be in a calorie deficit (consume less calories than you burn). But what most people are looking for when they try to lose weight is actually to get leaner (decrease body fat and improve muscle definition). For this to happen, you not only need to be in a calorie deficit, but you also need to be consuming the right mix of macronutrients (protein, carbs and fat). This test will show you if you’re in need of a tweak when it comes to macronutrients.
Trying to gain weight but struggling? By learning your metabolic rate you can better plan your caloric needs to guarantee weight gain over time. You see, in order to gain weight, you MUST be in a calorie surplus (consume more calories than you burn). But very few of us actually know how many calories we burn throughout the day, so we end up guessing. By going through this testing you can stop guessing.
Are you a data geek? The fact of the matter is that some of us like data, and if you’re one of those people, this can be a great way to learn more about your body and how it works.
What happens during the test?
